Laura’s List of Resources
Since Covid I have been unable to offer my regular classes. I know how many of you rely on the gentle Therapeutic way we practice, so I am happy to share this list of resources for you to care for yourself! All of these wonderful teachers have similarities to my teaching style, yet each has their own specialty whom you would be fortunate to receive from and deepen your practice with! A hidden blessing and opportunity in these COVID times, all these on-line courses now available to us.
1) my dear friend Mary Sage who used to own Sukha Wellness in Avila. She now lives in Minnesota and has many lovely offerings on-line, including an iRest Yoga Nidra series, similar to my restorative classes, that I think many of you would absolutely love! Her info is here.
2) Qoya with Tawny Sterios, a local Yogi, owner of the former Mbody Yoga Studio, and amazing human and friend. This is a women's movement practice utilizing dance, yoga, journaling and more. It is fantastic, I highly recommend you are looking for something more dynamic and upbeat. She has quite a few other wonderful offerings as well. Link here.
3) Singing with Heather Houston. Another resource for women. Heather is a gorgeous Song Leader in Santa Cruz who uses Singing to connect with your Body, Heart and Spirit. In her virtual womens song circles she often also includes some Yoga and breathing practices to warm up, and intention setting. It is a beautiful practice I find weaving in more and more into my personal movement, self reflection and self care rituals. I figured some of you may appreciate this resource. I will be taking a virtual Song Leader training with her in the Spring, so excited to share as I learn! Link Here.
4) The 4 Yoga Therapists I mentioned last fall, still offering beautiful supportive classes for you:
* Caroline Owen - remember when I was planning to teach at a Yoga retreat in Costa Rica? Caroline is the woman whom I was co-facilitating with. She is a beautiful, caring and seasoned Yoga Therapist and teacher who I feel you would adore! She is in Canada, yet has Live zoom therapeutic and gentle yoga classes (similar to mine) on Mondays plus quite a few other offerings including chanting. All her classes are recorded if the time does not work. Check out her website here.
* Jody Kurilla - another wonderful Yoga Therapist and friend whom I think you would love. She especially has a strong anatomy background having studied under Leslie Kaminoff, author of one of my favorite Yoga Books, "Yoga Anatomy". She is in Portland, yet her Therapeutic Yoga classes are on zoom on Tuesday and Friday mornings (also recorded). Here is what she wrote: "Doors are at 8am and class starts at 8:15am. Tues/Fri. 10 class cards with no expiration are $100. Drop in $15." Here is her email to sign up: kurillaj@icloud.com
* Danielle Tarantola - yet again another amazing Yoga Therapist friend who I studied with (as with Caroline and Jody), who's quality Therapeutic classes are both healing and can take one deeper into understanding Yogic philosophy with Sutra Study and chanting courses. She is in New York and also has lots of on-line options. Here is her website.
* Brooke West - local Yoga Therapist who usually offers delicious restorative Therapeutic Yoga classes. She currently is just offering private sessions though likely will start zoom classes up again soon. https://www.brookewestyoga.com
And as I have mentioned in my emails, I still have my Therapeutic Lung series I offered last spring up on YouTube. Link here. Also, if you would like to receive the zoom recordings of the Back Care series we did last spring, please let me know. I am making them available for $50 (sliding scale available as needed). Link here.
